We Will Never Forget

August 3, 2019 is a day that forever changed El Paso and Juarez. On that day, without warning, a man walked into the Walmart by Cielo Vista Mall and took the lives of twenty-two people while injuring another twenty-five. That tragic loss of life and senseless act of violence has changed the way we look at strangers, how we act in public, and left holes in the hearts of many within our community. Today, San Elizario remembers those who lost their lives.

Today twenty-two trees were planted in memory of those who are no longer with us. These trees will serve as a memorial that calls us to never forget.

We will never forget.

Remember always:

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. O Lord, your sorrowing Mother stood by your cross; help us in our sorrows to share your sufferings.
